Frontiers in Ocean Sustainability - Co-designing Research and Solutions

A Perspective from former, current and future Kiel Marine Scientists

The international symposium will bring together scientists closely connected to marine sciences in Kiel, Germany, for multidisciplinary exchange in the field of integrated and transdisciplinary ocean research for solutions in support of sustainable ocean development.


Research alumni of marine sciences in Kiel currently working at institutions in North America are invited to exchange their views with current researchers from 'The Future Ocean' and Dalhousie University on social, economic and environmental consequences of anthropogenic impacts on the ocean and on chances and challenges of co-designing research questions for sustainable ocean development.

The research alumni conference is organized by the Cluster of Excellence 'The Future Ocean' at Kiel University under the auspices of the sponsorship programme "Research Alumni Meetings Abroad" administered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It is co-organized by the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) at Dalhousie University and the Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE) in Halifax, Canada.
