Design and Presentation of Scientific Posters

Sebastian H. Schroeder, Photographer, Cologne and PD Dr. Avan Antia, ISOS

26 March – 27 March 2019
daily: 09:00 h – 16:30 h

Location
Leibnizstr. 1, room 105a

Presenting a poster can be better than giving a talk. Your poster showcases your work, attracts discussion and triggers contacts. But let's be honest – at a typical conference your poster is one of hundreds, and most viewers will spend just a few seconds deciding whether to move on or talk to you.

Join this course to
a) learn to use basic design tools to make the poster attractive and enhance content
b) identify your target audience, your main message, and give a poster pitch

We suggest you take this course at least once during your doctorate. Bring your last poster or all the data for your next poster into the course with you. Also bring your laptop with the programme in which you create your poster.

Voices of previous participants:
"How to make a perfect poster using the right tools."
"Simple tricks from a design expert that really make a difference."

Sebastian H. Schroeder is a freelance photographer and artist specialized in visual media. He has worked for major enterprises as well as NGOs across the globe.
Avan Antia is head of the ISOS and draws on 15 years experience in teaching and practicing scientific communication.

Child care can be provided if we have two weeks advance notice.
