Tsunamis are one of the most devastating and dangerous natural marine hazards to coastal populations, a quarter of which are caused by underwater landslides. Unfortunately, landslide-prone areas in the deep sea are often inaccessible and we lack direct observations and monitoring so that hazard assessment for submarine landslides is more difficult than for many other geohazards. I use geophysical, geological and geotechnical data from landslide inventories and combine these with numerical modelling. My aim is to advance our current understanding of landslide processes.
