Projects

I am an oceanographer interested in nutrients (C, N, P, Si, Fe) cycling and biological carbon pump. I have by the past work on the interactions between phytoplankton and biological carbon pump in high latitudes areas. My current project focuses on the fate of organic Carbon and Nitrogen in the tropical oxygen minimum zone. I will use material collected from sediment traps and specifically designed incubation chambers to estimate the rate at which organic carbon and nitrogen are mineralised in theses areas. This is important to better understand the impact of expanding oxygen minimum zone on global biogeochemistry and climate.
