Since 2012 the Future Ocean Cluster has begun to establish concerted capacity building support. Capacity building efforts in countries developing their marine science capacities, such as TTR (teaching through research), summer schools and targeted research for local effect, are supported with matching funds. Principle investigatiors for such projects can be nominated for the UNESCO/UniTwin chair in marine sciences seated in Kiel for a 12 – 24 month period.
